The Bermuda Privateer, book no.1 The Nicholas Fallon Sea Novels (HC), by William Westbrook

Profile of Julian Stockwin
Julian Stockwin Stockwin developed a love for the sea at an early age. He was influenced by his uncle, Tom Clay, who was a seaman in square-rigged ships and had sailed around Cape Horn in the Cutty Sark. After grammar school, he attended sea-training school at TS Indefatigable at age 14, and joined the Royal Navy at 15. He transferred to the Royal Australian Navy when his family emigrated.

Stockwin served eight years, and was eventually rated petty officer. He then attended the University of Tasmania to read Far Eastern studies and psychology and did post-graduate work in cross-cultural psychology. Returning to the navy and the Royal Navy Reserve, he was honoured with an MBE and retired as Lt Commander. He returned to the United Kingdom in 1990 and started to write in 1996. Naturally the subject was the sea. He lives in Devon, England, with his wife, Kathy.
